Toy Story TAKEOVER!!!

Hey all you cool cats and kittens! It’s “Party With Lex” here, and while you guys were busy catching up with Joe Exotic and Carole Baskins, Andres and I have had an entire Toy Story marathon that has since morphed into a full blown Toy Story TAKEOVER!!! We’ve made everything from crafts to treats… all the way to planning a whole quarantine party. Now we’re here to share it all with YOU! Even though COVID-19 has forced all of us not be able to leave our homes, that doesn’t mean we can’t still show our little ones a good time. These party ideas are perfect for a stay-at-home birthday celebration or even “just because!” We hope you guys enjoy all of our Toy Story madness just as much as we did!

  1. Now, we all know that the first step to every party is sending out invitations. Even though social distancing is in full-swing, we put our own little twist on things. In order to keep the kiddo preoccupied, we did make some cards as a craft, but we didn’t actually send them to anyone. Although, you can have your child write a sweet little note inside to send to friends and loved ones that they aren’t able to see during these trying times. If your kid is anything like mine, then I’m sure that they are missing their classmates… and they’re probably tired of being stuck in the house! Be sure to check out our “DIY Forky Card Craft” and “DIY Alien Card Craft” to get a step-by-step look at how we made these fun little “handmade” cards.

2. Next, Andres and I whipped up some sweet treats for our little quarantine shindig. Baking with your children is always a fun activity and a great way to pass the time by. I purchased marshmallows, white chocolate candy melts, Funfetti cupcake mix, vanilla frosting, food coloring - the list goes on! We started the fun the night before the party by making some Marshmallow Alien Pops,Forky Bars,Ham the Piggy Bank Cupcakes, and “There’s a Snake in My Boot” Dirt Cups.Plastic Boot Cups, purchased from Oriental Trading, gave the dirt cups an extra special touch.

If you’re not trying to load the kids up on sugar, here are some other Toy Story themed options for snack time:

  • “Pizza Planet” Bagel Bites

  • “Al’s Cheese Puffs”

  • “Rex’s Nuggets” (Dino-shaped Chicken Nuggets)

  • “Slinky Dogs” (Pigs in a Blanket)

  • “Bullseye’s Watering Hole” (Water Bottles)

  • “To Infini-TEA and Beyond” (… for the mamas and the papas)

  • “Hamm’s Ham & Cheese”

  • “Slinky Dog Pasta”

  • “Forky Cheese Sticks”

If you’d like to switch it up and choose some different desserts for your party, here are a couple to consider trying out:

3. Last but certainly not least, is my favorite part of the whole party, the decor! This party was so much fun to decorate because I really got to have a fun time playing up all of the bright colors. I really wanted to give the party a fun vibe with a primary color scheme and I ended up adding in cloud balloons (to match Andy’s wallpaper) and cow print balloons (to match Woody’s vest) to spruce up my balloon garland, which was one of the main focal points of the party.

The large alphabet block props, that I made days before the party, accompanied the garland perfectly and really played up the theme. They definitely took the party to the next level! (They’ll also be available for rent, if you’re in the St. Louis area, after the quarantine is over!)

For the dessert cart, I thought it would be a super cute idea to create little Etch-A-Sketch food tents, along with my personalized Toy Story party printables.

Did you notice?

I used my Cricut machine to create a stencil in order to cut out red star shaped napkins that we placed on top of blue lunch plates and yellow dessert plates to create the look of the famous Toy Story ball.

And there you have it folks! An exclusive inside look at our Toy Story extravaganza! I am so proud to say that ever since this lockdown has started I have finally found the time to really push myself to perfect my craft. This is the first party that I have designed all the way from start to finish, as far as, the graphics to the decorating, the desserts and even the photography. I also wanna give a special thanks to my good photographer friend and fellow mom-treprenuer, Jessa Rodriguez for helping me along the way all via FaceTime! (What an innovation, lol) I also want to add, that if you are struggling to get through these uncertain times, that is totally okay too! We’ve got to remember to stop being so hard on ourselves. If getting out of bed this morning was the biggest accomplishment you made today, don’t forget that you’re still a bad ass too! So with all of that being said, don’t forget to comment, like, stay safe, and be blessed!
